Best Cafés in Porto

In this post I will introduce my favorite cafés in Porto ordered based on Google reviews score. Some of them are typical Portuguese, others rather modern “European”. I hope everyone finds his “cup of tea”, or rather coffee 🙂

  • Cafe Kiwa – 5.0★ – Opened in January 2025 in Porto’s Bonfim district, Café Kiwa is a haven for matcha enthusiasts. The café offers premium organic Japanese matcha in beverages like the Coconut Matcha and Ginger Matcha. The minimalist interior, featuring white walls and natural wood accents, creates a serene atmosphere.

  • Combi Coffee Roasters – 4.7★ – Located in the artistic heart of Porto (in Bonfim, close to the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto University) Combi fits very well to this “hipster” environment. It works with ethical cooperatives to get the best coffee from all around the globe. They also roast their own fresh coffee.

  • SO Coffee Roasters – 4.7★ – Located in the center of Porto, it is a three plant location. Coffee shop on the ground floor, green coffee bean storage on the lower level, roastery, and communal table on the higher plant. If you work remotely, besides traditional coworking spaces, it can be a perfect place to spend your working time. They offer cakes, pastries, sourdough sandwiches, smoothies and of course lots of coffee.

  • Café Guarany – 4.2★ – Established in 1933, Café Guarany belongs to one of the oldest cafés in Porto. Nowaday, it is mostly known as the musicians coffee shop. It offers a mixture of the tradition, the quality of its services and the artistic spirit that has characterized its existence since the beginning. Guarany also reminds us of the Indians from South America.

  • Majestic Café – 4.1★ – Majestic Café is a must visit while in Porto. It is claimed that J. K. Rowling wrote here some parts of the first book Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (unlike the Library Lello as Rowling claims she has never visited it before writing HP books).
