We have chosen the seven best sunset spots in Porto and believe us, the choice was not easy 🙂 Porto, being situated on the west coast of Europe, offers truly beautiful sunset views with amazing colors during the whole year. We tried to pick the most well-known, as well as less famous sunset spots so you get the best and authentic experience of what the golden hour in Porto looks like.
- Jardim do Morro – situated on the hill in Vila Nova de Gaia, Jardim do Morro offers one of the best sunset views in Porto. Moreover, it is easily accessible by metro. While waiting for the magic, you can relax on the grass and enjoy your snack or a drink.
- Bridge Luís I – not far away from Jardim do Morro, you can enter the famous Bridge Luís I and enjoy the sunset right from the top of the bridge!
- Guindalense Football Club – as promised, we also picked some less traditional places to watch the sunset. Guindalense Football Club is a bar located close to the Bridge Luís I and offers a spectacular view. While watching the sunset, you can of course get some refreshments.
- Fontainhas – to continue with less usual places, our next choice goes to the city part called Fontainhas. It offers many nice bars and “tasquinhas” where you can get some refreshments while watching the sunset.
- Jardim das Virtudes – another garden with amazing view situated not far away from Clérigos Tower is Jardim das Virtudes. You can also get some refreshments in the local bars or just relax on the ground and enjoy the beautiful view.
- Jardins do Palácio de Cristal – Jardins do Palácio de Cristal offer many spectacular views. This time, you will be able to see the first bridge on the Douro River closest to the Atlantic – Arrábida Bridge. Moreover, there are many wild animals living here, e.g. peacocks or wild chicken.
- Foz do Douro – last but not least place in our best sunset spots selection belongs to Foz do Douro. This non-traditional place offers nice view over the Atlantic Ocean and you can also enjoy the view on two lighthouses – Farolim de Felgueiras and Farolim da Barra do Douro.
