One Day in The Social Hub Porto

A few years ago, while wandering around Bonjardim, I remember stopping in front of a strange new red building rising from the neighborhood. Another trendy hotel, I thought. Another sign of Porto losing a bit of its authenticity.

But when The Social Hub Porto finally opened its doors in March 2025, it surprised me – in the best possible way. With its professionalism, open-minded concept, excellent services, and a genuine community feel, it quickly became one of my favorite places in the city. For any expat who works remotely but refuses to be stuck at home all day, this place feels like the perfect blend of productivity, comfort, and local soul.

So, let me take you through one full day inside The Social Hub Porto.

7:00 – Waking Up in a Room with a Purpose

I start the day by waking up inside the hotel. Off-season prices are surprisingly affordable, so I decided to stay overnight to enjoy the full experience. Rolling out of bed right into a space filled with creative energy already feels like a privilege.

8:00 – Coffee & Community

I head downstairs for my morning coffee, served by a new friend I made among the staff – because yes, this place makes it far too easy to meet friendly faces, even for such an introvert as me..

Since I didn’t opt for the hotel breakfast, I walk a few steps to the nearby Continente to grab something light. The convenience really can’t be beaten.

9:00 – Laundry, Work & Play

One of the underrated perks? Laundry is included in the room price. I throw in a load and let the machines do their magic while I settle into the coworking area.

The coworking space comes at an additional fee, but it includes unlimited coffee, tea, fruit and water – and the comfortable, modern environment is worth it. Between tasks, I let myself enjoy small breaks playing billiards or table tennis. Suddenly, being productive feels… fun.

11:30 – Lunch with Benefits

Time for lunch at the onsite restaurant. Whether you’re in the mood for fish, meat, or a vegetarian dish, they always have a daily menu available. And if you’re coworking, you get a discount – yet another thoughtful advantage.

13:00 – Urban Inspiration Walk

After lunch, I take a walk around the nearby streets – Sá da Bandeira, Santa Catarina, Bonjardim and the surrounding areas – to snap photos for my blog and social media. This neighborhood is full of inspiration and movement.

14:00 – A Sweet Birthday Surprise

When I return to my room, I find a sweet surprise waiting for me: a handwritten card with a brownie and fresh fruit wishing me a happy birthday. It’s small touches like this that make The Social Hub feel personal rather than corporate.

15:00 – Creativity Hour

I join one of the free workshops offered by The Social Hub. Today’s theme? Candle and tea making. The workshops rotate regularly, and they’re always a charming way to learn something new, relax, and meet other creative souls.

17:00 – Sunday Film Club

If it’s Sunday, 17:00 means it’s time for the Film Club – a cozy, free weekly screening where we gather to watch a great movie and eat some free! popcorn. It’s one of my favorite community moments.

19:00 – Time to Move

I squeeze in a workout at the gym. It’s not huge, but it’s equipped with modern machines and everything I personally need. A perfect way to reset before dinner. Except for the gym, the Social Hub Porto organizes many free sport events, such as yoga on Sunday, Flex Lab, Pilates, Run Club and much more..

20:00 – Home-Cooked Comfort

Since I’ve been treating myself at restaurants a lot lately, I choose to cook something simple in the communal kitchen. It’s fully equipped, clean, and surprisingly enjoyable to use. Sharing a kitchen space with other travelers and expats brings a sense of home.

21:00 – Books or Rooftop Bliss

I end the day with a book in the library. If it’s summer, though, the choice is obvious – the rooftop pool area. Watching the sunset from up there is pure magic.

22:00 – Grateful & Ready for Tomorrow

By 22:00, I’m back in bed, grateful for a day filled with productivity, community, and comfort. The Social Hub Porto has a way of making each day feel full – not overwhelming, but meaningful.

And I’m already looking forward to the next one.
