Porto is a city that awakens all the senses – from the scent of fresh pastries drifting through narrow alleys to the vibrant colors of handmade crafts displayed along the riverfront. Beyond its famous port wine and historic charm, Porto’s street markets offer a lively glimpse into local life, creativity, and tradition. Whether you’re searching for vintage treasures, fresh produce, unique souvenirs, or simply an authentic cultural experience, the city’s markets are the perfect place to wander, explore, and get inspired. In this guide, we’ll take you through the very best street markets in Porto – called in Portuguese “feiras”. There is another Portuguese word for a market – “mercado”, meaning rather indoor market. You can find the list of the best indoor markets in Porto in this blog. As a bonus, I have included one of the biggest street markets in the whole Portugal just few minutes train trip south from Porto.
Flea Markets
- Feira da Vandoma – Feira da Vandoma is Porto’s most iconic flea market – a lively treasure hunt that takes place every Saturday morning between 8:00 to 13:00. What began as a student swap market in the 1970s has evolved into a bustling open‑air fair where you can find everything from vintage clothing and old records to antique furniture, ceramics, books, and quirky collectibles you didn’t even know you wanted. It’s the perfect spot for bargain lovers and anyone who enjoys strolling through a slice of authentic local life. Go early to find the best deals and enjoy the lively, informal atmosphere.

- Flea Market – It is a charming antiques and vintage market held on Saturdays monthly in different locations announced ahead on Facebook page. Unlike the more chaotic flea markets, this fair has a curated feel – perfect for collectors and lovers of beautiful old things. You’ll find antiques, retro decor, old postcards, jewelry, classic vinyl, art pieces, and unique objects with real history behind them. It’s the ideal place to pick up a one-of-a-kind souvenir from Porto or simply enjoy browsing through stories from the past.

- Feira de Antiguidades & Velharias – This Fair is organized by the Municipality of Porto and takes place on the third Saturday of each month at Praça Francisco Sá Carneiro (known as Praça Velásquez) between 8am and 6pm. It is the ideal place to find antique objects and junk, such as books, porcelain, furniture, decorative objects, coins, goldsmithing items, tapestries, and paintings.

Fresh and Other Products Markets
- Feira de Produtos Biológicos do Parque da Cidade – This initiative to reinforce the promotion of sustainable production and consumption in the form of weekly farmers markets takes place each Saturday at from 9:00 to 14:00 in north part of Parque da Cidade. You can buy here mainly fresh local fruit and vegetable.

- Feira da Senhora da Hora – Located just outside Porto in Matosinhos, Feira da Senhora da Hora is one of the region’s largest and most traditional markets. It’s a classic Portuguese feira: loud, colorful, and full of energy. Expect to find clothing, household items, shoes, textiles, toys, fresh produce, plants, and all kinds of everyday essentials at very affordable prices. It’s popular among locals, which makes it a great place to experience the rhythm of day‑to‑day life in northern Portugal. If you love big markets with a bit of everything, this one is a must-visit.

Bonus
- Feira de Espinho – Feira de Espinho is one of the largest and most famous weekly markets in northern Portugal – a true classic that has been attracting visitors for more than a century. Held every Monday near the center of Espinho, this massive open‑air market stretches across several streets and offers an incredible variety of goods. You’ll find everything from fresh fish, produce, cheeses, and regional specialties to clothing, shoes, linens, ceramics, kitchenware, and traditional crafts.
