About

Gabriela, founder of Porto Expats

Hi, I’m Gabriela – welcome to Porto Expats

Olá! I’m originally from Slovakia, and I first landed at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport on May 30, 2013 – to visit someone special I’d met during Erasmus. That love story continues to this day… and so does my love for Porto.

I’ve lived here on and off ever since. I got married here and slowly gathered a wealth of knowledge about the city – its food, people, language, traditions and how to truly enjoy life here.

Expat or local? A bit (or rather a lot) of both

People often ask me how I feel, and the answer is: both. That’s exactly why I created this space – to connect expats with locals, and help both communities learn from, respect and support one another.
