Activities for Kids in Porto

Surely some of you came to Porto with kids and are searching for some activities/places to entertain them. Below I have gathered some activities that can be, in my opinion, interesting for your kids. And some of them also for their parents 🙂 Feel free to comment with more activities.

  • Parque Municipal da Lavandeira – This is another park, this time located in Vila Nova de Gaia, also having an interesting playground for kids with an imitation of a small airplane and a hot air balloon.

  • SEA LIFE Centre Porto – Although I am not a fan of Zoos and sea lives and I find it better to show your kids animals in the nature that are not “trapped”, there is a Sea Life in Matosinhos that maybe your kids would like to visit.

  • Tripeirinhos – This project is about showing the history, architecture and culture of Porto to kids aged 3 to 9. Each month there is a new adventure, as for example a museum visit, artistic workshop, tram or metro trip, small concert and many others. I personally loved this idea of educating and entertaining the kids at the same time. Btw the name Tripeirinhos is the diminutive form of Tripeiro – the nickname of people from Porto for having given away all the meat of the city to the army of Infante D. Henrique who sailed from Porto to conquer Ceuta. What was left was tripe which is what people ate.

  • Neonia – Neonia is a freshly opened interactive museum featuring as its name suggests, many neon lights. Emblematic places are represented in it, such as the Clérigos Tower, the Bolhão Market and the night of São João.
